On April 7, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) organised the next AHK Impuls event with the participation of representatives of more than 60 member companies and partners of the Chamber. The guest of honour of the event, Mr Emin Huseynov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the territories freed from occupation included in the Karabakh economic region (except Shusha region), spoke on the topic "Works and investment opportunities in the territories freed from occupation included in the Karabakh economic region". The meeting also discussed the destructions carried out in the occupied territories for 30 years, the essential stages and results after the liberation of those territories, the region's investment potential and the work done, and the primary goals ahead.
In the opening speech of the meeting, the executive director of AHK Azerbaijan, Mr Tobias Baumann, welcomed the event participants and expressed his gratitude to Yelo Bank OJSC for its support. He then gave the floor to Mr Emin Huseynov, the event's guest of honour.
Mr Huseynov gave information about the reconstruction works and development in the Karabakh region: “The initial stage in the Karabakh region began with demining activities, and this process continued for a year. Reconstruction works are underway in the Karabakh region, and active activity continues, especially in transport and logistics, energy and water, and communication lines.”
Speaking about the business opportunities in the Karabakh region and the investment potential of the area, the special representative of the President for the Karabakh economic region: "He emphasized the potential investment opportunities in the Karabakh region mainly in agricultural processing, food industry, mining, tourism industry and the importance of the reconstruction of these areas. Speaking about the restoration of the transport system and the construction works carried out in the Karabakh region in the last two years, he spoke about the advantages of the newly built airports. Giving information about technology and "Green Energy", Emin Huseynov also touched on the issue of creating a green zone in the Karabakh region. He stated that by the decision of President Ilham Aliyev, the processes to reduce potential carbon dioxide emissions to zero by 2050 are being successfully continued.
At the same time, Mr Huseynov emphasised German companies' contribution to Azerbaijan's economy. He noted that the successful continuation of these relations in the Karabakh region is also interesting for the economy of both countries.
In his speech, Mr Huseynov brought up the perspective of local investors and gave examples of opportunities for German investors and how to present incentives to potential investors.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, lively discussions and a business dinner afterwards.
