The Head of the Department on Protection of the Right to Information at the Ombudsman Office Ms. Lamiya Zeynalova took part in an online event organized at the initiative of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in our country on the occasion of August 28, Emirati Women's Day. The event entitled “The role of women in the development of the society and the expansion of their rights” brought together the representatives from the UAE Embassy to Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.
Taking the floor, Ms. Zeynalova gave information about the state gender policy carried out in Azerbaijan and stressed the remarkable services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, country President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the First Vice-President Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva in this sphere.
During the speech, the Commissioner’s constant care for the restoration of women’s violated rights, ensuring and promoting gender equality, as well as the extensive activities in this field were brought to the attention. This was also mentioned that the necessary measures are taken upon the investigation of numerous appeals addressed to the Ombudsman by women, requests are sent to the authorized bodies, and as a result, women’s rights are ensured.
Moreover, she noted that the Ombudsman closely participates in the process of improvement of the legislation, also the development and implementation of state programs and national action plans.
Ms. Zeynalova pointed out that the Ombudsman Institution also organized awareness-raising events for the women living in different regions of the country, and consequently hundreds of women were informed about their rights.
