Presidency’s Director of Communications, Burhaneddin Duran, shared President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s article written on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, August 19. The article, titled “Compassion Beyond Borders: Alliance of Civilizations and Humanitarian Diplomacy”, was published in Spanish in one of Spain’s leading newspapers, El Pais.

In his piece, President Erdoğan emphasized that humanitarian aid is a matter of conscience above politics, stressing that Türkiye stands out as a nation that extends a helping hand to the oppressed around the world, regardless of their identity, faith, or origin.

Pointing to ongoing humanitarian crises across the globe, Erdoğan stated:

“Wars, hunger, irregular migration, and climate disasters have confronted us with one of the greatest tests in human history. Today, on World Humanitarian Day, the painful reality before us is that more than 300 million people are deprived of their most basic humanitarian needs. This picture is a truth that shakes the conscience of humanity and calls the entire world to responsibility.”

Through this article, Türkiye’s pioneering role in humanitarian diplomacy and its compassion-centered approach have once again been conveyed to the international community.
