During the IV Azerbaijan–Türkiye Fourth Energy Forum in Izmir, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar visited SOCAR’s STAR Oil Refinery and Petkim petrochemical plant in Aliaga, Türkiye.

SOCAR Türkiye`s production facilities, which are of strategic importance for the economies of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, were reviewed. It was emphasized that the Izmir-Aliaga projects make up a significant part of the Azerbaijani-Turkish energy partnership, especially Azerbaijan's more than 18 billion USD in energy investments in Türkiye. The 60-year experience of Petkim was highlighted for its importance to Azerbaijan and the industrial sector, while the strategic benefits of the STAR Oil Refinery, with an annual crude oil processing capacity of 13 million tons, were discussed. Information was also provided about SOCAR’s new investment plans in Türkiye.

The visit to the complex, which holds the status of SOCAR Türkiye’s first Special Industrial Zone, was attended by ministers and government officials from both Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
