In the course of her working visit to the United Arab Emirates, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova gave information about the gender equality situation in our country as she spoke at the 2nd session of the Women Parliamentary Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean held in Abu Dhabi. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova let it be known that women have always been central to forming family as the crucial minor societal cell and in communicating the values to the future generations in the Azerbaijani society which is based on solid familial and cultural traditions. According to her, women have invariably been regarded socially as equal partners and have always exerted a decisive influence on its development.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis emphasised that Azerbaijani women are actively represented in politics, economy, science and education, health care and other areas today. Women occupy elevated positions in the legislative and executive authorities, within the court system and in the diplomatic field. The adoption of the 2026-2028 National Gender Equality Action Plan is a continuation of the steps in this area that the Government of Azerbaijan is taking consistently, she said.
