Formula 1 race distances to be shortened from 2027

Formula 1 race distances will be shortened by 15 kilometres from the 2027 season under the latest regulations approved by the FIA.

The standard Grand Prix distance will be reduced from 305 kilometres to 290 kilometres.

The change is expected to shorten races by approximately two to three laps, depending on the circuit.

The current three-hour overall time limit for races will also be removed. However, races will not be allowed to run for more than two hours from the start.

The new regulations will come into effect from the 2027 Formula 1 season.
