The second competition day of the Mingachevir Regatta 2026 international tournament, jointly organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, has concluded.

Athletes competed for eight sets of medals at the Kur Olympic Training and Sports Center. The Azerbaijani team won seven medals in total — three gold, one silver and three bronze.
Azerbaijan’s gold medals were won by Tengiz Gagnidze and Giyas Ahmadov in the K2 500-meter event for athletes born in 2008–2009, Azer Ilyasov in the single sculls 1,500-meter event for the same age group, and Alimurad Hajizade in the K1 1,000-meter event, also among athletes born in 2008–2009.

Elmir Tarverdiyev and Mustafa Valizadeh claimed the silver medal in the K2 1,000-meter event for athletes born in 2010–2011.

The bronze medals were won by Nuran Rahimli and Elvin Aliyev in the K2 500-meter event for athletes born in 2008–2009, Huseyn Samadli in the C1 1,000-meter event for the same age group, and the Mammad Hasanov–Ilyas Ibrahimov duo in the double sculls 1,500-meter event for athletes born in 2010–2011.

The Mingachevir Regatta 2026 international tournament began on September 29 at the Kondalanchay Reservoir in Fuzuli. On the opening day, Azerbaijani athletes won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

More than 100 athletes from 12 countries are competing in the regatta, which will conclude on October 1.
