State Tourism Agency and UNESCO discuss cooperation

On 26 October, Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with a delegation led by Asa Regner, UNESCO Assistant Director-General.

During the meeting, the existing cooperation between State Tourism Agency and UNESCO was highly appreciated. The importance of expanding joint efforts to protect cultural heritage of tourism significance and promote sustainable tourism development was also emphasised.

The discussions covered the protection and sustainable management of cultural heritage sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, joint initiatives under the Silk Roads Programme, sustainable tourism development, cooperation within UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, and the promotion of gastronomy tourism.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage sites and strengthening efforts to promote and raise awareness of these valuable assets.
