The exhibition and lecture by Rustam Huseynov dedicated to the first secular girls' school for Muslim girls in Azerbaijan was held in the Russian House in Baku on September 30 at 19:00.

Researcher Rustam Huseynov spoke in detail about the founding of the first secular school for girls, public reaction and pressure, difficulties associated with finding the first teachers, attempts to disrupt the founding of the school, the ways in which the staff and trustees of the school gained authority and a place among the best schools of their time, the first teachers and graduations, and the future fate of the school's graduates.

The Baku Alexandrinsky Muslim Girls' School was the first secular school for muslim girls not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the Near and Middle East of that time.

Founded on the initiative of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, Hasan bey Zardabi, Alimardan-bey Topchibashev, created by a specially invited group of female teachers from Kazan, this school laid the foundation for secular female education in Azerbaijan. Located in a specially built building for it under the direction of the architect Joseph Goslavsky, equipped with the latest technology of that time, with an excellent library, with a strong teaching staff, the school quickly became a model, while great importance was attached to etiquette and erudition. The school had a theater, choir and literary club.

The girls who graduated from this school formed the basis of the first female teachers in Azerbaijan. Many graduates continued their education after graduating from school, many of the first Azerbaijani women scientists were graduates of the Alexandrinsky Muslim Women's School.

The visitors of the lecture were presented with an exhibition of rare archival photographs of the school, its staff, educational processes, graduation photographs. The greatest interest of the audience was aroused by photographs of the first graduations of the school, where Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, Hasan bey Zardabi, Alimardan-bey Topchibashev and photoshots related to the educational processes and life of the school are captured together with the students.
