The Bandung Principles have never lost their relevance. This statement was made by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova during her address at the fourth conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
She emphasised that the current developments in international relations demonstrate the need to adopt the Bandung Principles as a driving force in addressing the complex challenges we face today. Strict adherence to principles such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality, non-interference in internal affairs, respect for justice and international obligations remains crucial for effective cooperation aimed at peaceful coexistence among all nations and building a better future.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis emphasised that by engaging with the Non-Aligned Movement, our nations have demonstrated their commitment to embracing these principles and remaining steadfast to them.
Furthermore, the parliaments of the Network Member States have expressed their determination to play a significant role in advancing the ideals and objectives enshrined in the Bandung Principles. This approach not only reflects our readiness to support governments in promoting these principles, but also underscores a firm belief in the potential of inter-parliamentary co-operation to achieve peace, justice and sustainable development.
