A meeting was held at the State Maritime and Port Agency (DDLA) with Stefan Psota, Deputy Representative for Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Austria for Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and Pierpaolo Bettoni, Regional Sales Manager of “Frequentis AG”.
During the meeting, information was provided on maritime safety, search and rescue operations, the operation of marine navigation equipment, as well as the work carried out regarding the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTS) in Azerbaijan’s territorial waters. In addition, the coordinated activities of DDLA with the relevant state bodies concerning the Caspian Sea were highlighted.
Information was also provided about Azerbaijan’s accession to the “Convention on the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation” (IALA), and issues related to updating VTS systems in accordance with international requirements were discussed. The delegation expressed readiness to provide the necessary technical expert support in this field.
The meeting also resulted in an agreement on cooperation opportunities regarding the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), as well as continuing experience exchange.
Habil Abbasov, Advisor to the Chairman of the DDLA Management Board, stated that such meetings not only expand inter-agency cooperation but also make a significant contribution to strengthening friendly relations and developing mutual cooperation between countries.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation was acquainted with the operations of DDLA’s Vessel Traffic Management Center.
