The Network of Women of the International Telecommunication Union’s Telecommunication Development Sector (NoW in ITU-D) organized a special event in Baku as part of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25). The event aimed to foster women’s leadership in the field of information and communication technologies and encourage their greater participation in decision-making processes.
During the session, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, and Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, delivered remarks.
At the event, members who contributed to the network’s activities during 2023–2025 were presented with certificates. Among the awardees was Sahiba Hasanova, Leading Adviser of the Technological Development Department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, member of the Advisory Board and mentor of the WTDC-25 Network of Women.
Tinatin Valiyeva, Leading Adviser at the Ministry’s International Cooperation Department, participated as a mentee and shared her experiences with the event’s participants.
It should be noted that “NoW” is a program of the International Telecommunication Union aimed at promoting women’s participation in the technology and digital sectors. In addition to offering educational opportunities, the network also serves as a platform for mentorship, experience sharing, and professional networking to help women develop their skills. These initiatives serve to strengthen women’s leadership in the telecommunications sector and promote gender equality.
