A commemoration event dedicated to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, the architect and founder of the independent Azerbaijan, the great statesman Heydar Aliyev, was held at the Ministry of Energy.
The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the cherished memory of the National Leader.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev emphasized the importance of preserving and conveying to future generations the eternal legacy that Heydar Aliyev gave to our people and state. He noted that the National Leader’s wise statecraft, farsightedness, and unshakable determination guided Azerbaijan through the most difficult periods, laying the foundation for the establishment of a strong and independent state. Heydar Aliyev’s oil strategy, particularly the Contract of the Century marked a turning point in Azerbaijan’s economic revival. This historic agreement paved the way for attracting foreign investment, restructuring the oil and gas sector, and strengthening economic independence, thus forming the basis for Azerbaijan’s sustainable development. The Deputy Minister also highlighted that this political course is being successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Following the speeches, the participants watched a video dedicated to the life and activity of the National Leader.
During the event, speakers underscored Heydar Aliyev’s significant efforts aimed at protecting Azerbaijan’s national interests on the international stage and informing the global community about the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. It was noted that the dreams of the National Leader who never reconciled with the fact of occupation and consistently advocated for the restoration of our territorial integrity, were fulfilled under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, with the liberation of our lands from occupation.
Speakers also emphasized that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is successfully advancing the political course established by the National Leader in accordance with new historical realities. As a result of this consistent policy, Azerbaijan has become the author of new political and economic realities in the region. Large-scale restoration and construction works were carried out in the liberated territories, new projects implemented in the field of energy and expansion of international cooperation confirm the successful continuation of Heydar Aliyev's legacy.
