Azerbaijan was represented at the 12th Transport Statistics Meeting of the International Transport Forum (ITF), held at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the role of data and statistics in strengthening sustainability in the transport sector and in shaping forward-looking policies, in line with the theme of this year’s ITF Summit, “Financing Sustainable Transport.”
Alish Ismayilov, a representative of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, emphasized the importance of more proactive and forward-looking approaches in transport policy. It was noted that technology serves as a key tool in enhancing the resilience of transport systems and in managing uncertainties.
During the meeting, information was also presented on the data collection and integration process within the framework of Baku’s Digital Twin project, the technological solutions applied, as well as the use of the digital twin in transport planning, optimization, and infrastructure decision-making.
The discussions also covered the impact of artificial intelligence on official statistics, the integration of cross-sectoral data into transport policy, and innovative approaches to data collection and measurement.
Through its active participation in the meeting, Azerbaijan contributed to the promotion of data-driven, sustainable, and future-oriented transport systems, as well as to strengthening international cooperation within the framework of its ITF Presidency.
