On 1 June 2026, within the framework of Baku Energy Week, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf met with Walid Hadi, Executive Vice President of Shell.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential cooperation opportunities across various segments of the energy sector in Azerbaijan and third countries. In this context, the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SOCAR and Shell earlier that day was highlighted.
The parties reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of upstream, midstream and downstream operations, people development, research and innovation, as well as the deployment of artificial intelligence, and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
