For the first time, the Faculty of Chemistry at Baku State University (BSU) will offer a master’s degree specialization in Food Chemistry beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.

The new specialization is designed to train highly qualified professionals in the study of the chemical composition of food products, assessment of food quality and safety indicators, investigation of chemical processes occurring during food processing and storage, and analysis of food additives.

Under the curriculum, students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in food composition analysis, chemical changes during processing and storage, food safety and quality control systems, identification of food additives and contaminants, modern analytical instruments and laboratory techniques, as well as international food standards and regulatory requirements.

The introduction of this new specialization is expected to make a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s food safety system, supporting the development of local industry, and preparing highly qualified professionals who meet international standards.
