Alimurad Hajizada: “Self-confidence is essential in rowing”

Mingachevir, "innews media" — Self-confidence is one of the key factors for success in rowing, according to Alimurad Hajizada, a winner of the Mingachevir Regatta 2026 international tournament.

According to "innews media", the athlete spoke about his preparation and his victory at the competition.

“We trained consistently. Regardless of the weather conditions, we continued working on ourselves. Finally, I saw the result of all the effort I had put in,” Hajizada said.

The athlete said that self-confidence and focused training were among the main factors behind his success.

“Self-confidence is essential in this sport. I am very happy to have won. The President’s Cup competition is coming up next. We will prepare for it and try to achieve a good result,” he said.

Hajizada also outlined his plans for the next season.

“Next year, I will compete in the President’s Cup regatta in rowing and canoeing. I believe I can achieve a good result there as well,” the athlete added.

Hajizada won the 1,000-metre single-boat race on the second day of the Mingachevir Regatta 2026.

Azerbaijani rowers won a further seven medals on the second day of the tournament, which is jointly organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation.
