On 22 October 2026, the 3rd Islamic Finance Forum (IMF’26) was held in Baku at the initiative of the Centre for the Study of Economic Resources.
The forum addressed the development prospects of Islamic finance in Azerbaijan, Islamic banking and insurance, the introduction of alternative financing instruments, as well as professional training and international certification in the field.
Emin Aliyev, Chief Economist of the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), delivered remarks during a panel session entitled “Opportunities for Implementing Sukuk, Leasing and Microfinance Products in Islamic Finance.”
The discussions focused on the legal and regulatory framework required to establish a functioning sukuk market in Azerbaijan, the necessary market infrastructure, and the potential for introducing this financial instrument into the domestic capital market.
The introduction of Islamic finance instruments and the expansion of alternative financing opportunities represent important avenues for diversifying the range of products available in the capital market.
Through its participation in professional discussions on capital market development, the Baku Stock Exchange supports the exchange of international expertise and promotes greater awareness of alternative financing mechanisms.
