Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), an AZCON Holding company, will launch passenger services on the Baku–Aghdam–Baku route starting August 30.
Passengers will travel on modern FLIRT trains manufactured by Switzerland’s Stadler company.
According to the schedule, the train will depart from Baku every Saturday at 07:10, arriving in Aghdam at 11:53. The return trip will leave Aghdam at 18:20 and reach Baku Railway Station at 22:55.
The service will operate with stops at Baku, Bilajari, Ujar, Laki, Yevlakh, Barda, Kocharli, Tezekend, and Aghdam stations.
Travelers can choose from Standard, Standard+, Business, and First Class options. Ticket prices start from 12 AZN (USD 7) for destinations such as Barda, Kocharli, and Tezekend, while fares to the Aghdam Railway and Bus Terminal will be 12.80 AZN (USD 7.5). Free Wi-Fi will be available onboard.
Tickets for the route have been on sale since August 27 via the official ADY website, the ADY Mobile app, and railway ticket offices. For trips to the liberated territories, travel permits will be issued automatically through the ticketing portal.
Passenger trains previously operated between Baku and Aghdam on the Baku–Khankendi–Baku line until 1993, when operations were suspended due to the occupation. At that time, the 371-kilometer journey took around 8.5 hours on sleeper trains.
The reopening of the Baku–Aghdam–Baku railway is expected to enhance public transport accessibility in the Karabakh economic region, contribute to the social and economic revival of Aghdam and surrounding districts, expand transport opportunities in the region, and play a key role in Azerbaijan’s broader Great Return program.
