With the support of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), the Azerbaijan Innovation Center (AIC) has been established within the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The opening ceremony of the Center was attended by the ASOIU leadership, academic staff, students, as well as founders of university startups.
Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of IDDA, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasized the role of innovation centers established with the Agency’s support in promoting a startup culture in Azerbaijan. He also highlighted several advantages of the Center being located within the university, stating: “In the future, the AIC at ASOIU will create a strong innovation foundation for industries supporting the development of the non-oil sector by uniting the state–university–business triangle as a new innovation hub. The Center provides an environment that supports mentorship, incubation, acceleration, international networking, and all stages of the journey from idea to product.”
ASOIU Rector Rufat Azizov, in his speech, provided detailed information about the university’s activities in the field of innovation. He emphasized that thanks to the resources of the AIC at ASOIU, student innovators have every opportunity to test their ideas, develop prototypes, and refine them to meet real market needs.
AIC at ASOIU is equipped with technical facilities for prototyping, equipment design, and scientific research. The Center also features a computer lab for university students, program participants, and other users. Additionally, it offers spaces for coworking, meetings, and presentations, as well as facilities for educational events and training sessions.
