The Azerbaijani delegation participated in a plenary session held within the framework of the OECD Eurasia Week. The event, titled “The Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and Regional Economic Connectivity,” underscored the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor and Azerbaijan’s leading role in advancing the development of this route.

It was noted that the Middle Corridor has evolved beyond a mere transit route into a key platform for regional economic integration and cooperation across the Eurasian space. Azerbaijan’s investments in railway, port, maritime, and logistics infrastructure in recent years have further strengthened the corridor’s strategic position.

The Azerbaijani delegation also informed participants about the completion of modernization work on the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line, the joint expansion of ports and the fleet in the Caspian Sea, and the significance of the Zangezur Corridor as an important element of diversification.

It was further emphasized that ensuring the long-term competitiveness of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor requires not only the development of roads and infrastructure, but also the simplification of border procedures, harmonization of regulatory frameworks, streamlining of operational processes, and the deployment of digital technologies. Azerbaijan is expanding its initiatives in this direction. Legislative amendments have been introduced, and the relevant legal framework has been established. Under a Decree of the Head of State, a “Single Window” information system is being developed, which will significantly enhance operational efficiency and the quality of forecasting. The Digital Logistics Platform, currently under development, will integrate transport, customs, and logistics stakeholders into a unified electronic system, enabling real-time data exchange. As a result, processes will be carried out in a more transparent and agile manner.

At the plenary session, Azerbaijan’s presidency of the International Transport Forum under the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) was also highlighted. It was noted that strengthening transport connectivity is a key priority of the presidency. Azerbaijan remains committed to advancing cooperation to transform the Middle Corridor into a sustainable, competitive, digital, and fully integrated regional connectivity route.
