Two Azerbaijani sports stars meet ahead of UFC Fight Night Baku

As preparations approach their final stage for UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs. Torres, scheduled for June 27 at the National Gymnastics Arena, two prominent figures in Azerbaijani sport—UFC fighter Nazim Sadykhov and world-renowned gymnast Tofig Aliyev—met at the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation training facility.

Sadykhov’s visit came as an exciting and unexpected moment for the young gymnasts, who had the opportunity to meet the UFC fighter up close, interact with him, and ask questions.

Tofig Aliyev, a world-renowned gymnast in tumbling, introduced Sadykhov to the specifics of his discipline, demonstrating elements from his training program. In return, Nazim Sadykhov shared insights into his preparations for his upcoming bout in Baku. Both athletes exchanged warm wishes ahead of their respective international commitments.

Notably, Tofig Aliyev made history as the first gymnast to successfully execute one of the most complex combinations in tumbling: a triple somersault with a triple twist.

The meeting concluded with a symbolic exchange of gifts. Sadykhov presented Aliyev with official UFC gloves, while Aliyev gifted the fighter his gymnastics shoes.

The encounter ended with a joint photo session. Despite representing different sporting disciplines, both athletes share a unified mission—to proudly represent Azerbaijan on the global stage and elevate the profile of national sport.
