UK-Azerbaijan Relations to Be Elevated to Strategic Partnership

Relations between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan are being elevated to the level of a Strategic Partnership.

"innews media" reports that British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman made the remarks at a press conference in Baku.

The ambassador noted that the two countries have more than 30 years of cooperation. According to him, cooperation initially established in the energy sector has subsequently expanded to include defence, security, trade, education, innovation and people-to-people ties.

D. Norman said that Azerbaijan is an important regional partner for the United Kingdom:

“That is why our governments have agreed to elevate these relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership. This step will enable deeper cooperation in areas that are our shared priorities, including creating new opportunities for economic growth, strengthening security and promoting innovation. The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan are building a shared future that delivers tangible benefits for the people of both countries.”
