Mingachevir, "innews media" — The Mingachevir Regatta is expected to gain greater international recognition in the coming years and could develop into a tournament broadcast around the world.

According to "innews media", the remarks were made by Recep Öztop, Consul General of Türkiye in Ganja, while attending the second day of the Mingachevir Regatta 2026 international tournament.

The diplomat highlighted the participation of Turkish teams and said the regatta had already become a traditional event both in Azerbaijan and among the international sporting community.

“Turkish teams enthusiastically take part in the competitions here twice a year. These tournaments have already become a tradition in Azerbaijan and internationally. The event provides a stage for strong competition,” Öztop said.

He also expressed his satisfaction with Türkiye’s participation in the tournament held in Azerbaijan.

“As Türkiye, we are always very pleased to be represented at the tournament in our brotherly country. We have no doubt that in the coming years these competitions will become an event broadcast around the world and gain international recognition,” the diplomat added.

More than 100 young rowers from Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are taking part in the Mingachevir Regatta 2026, which will conclude on October 1.
